You've reached Hawke! Leave a message on this thing that I don't even remotely understand and I'll fumble my way to figure out how to answer your most important request.
(A genuine question, honestly. He knows back home kids got clocked for asking about sex. Adults, for some inane reason, always seemed to assume that a kid asking about sex meant that they wanted to have sex. The reality was a lot simpler: kids were curious. Puberty was a big change, and Eddie had only started touching the edges of it, starting to really think about things and notice them. He didn't want anything except to not feel so fucking dumb.
It made being in the dark about stuff a lot more scary and confusing than it had to be when he was in the dark without a clue of anything at all. Having it come from an adult who he trusts to be honest with him? It might make him feel better at least a little.)
[She replies quickly but not in a tone that indicates she's answering fast to hide or make up for something. Thedas had it's flaws. Like the whole "mages have to live in towers" thing and the lack of vaccines and most technology, but they were surprisingly open about the topics of sex and sexuality. Ferelden wasn't remotely hedonistic but these things were simply accepted as part of life rather than anything to be ashamed of.]
It's natural. Completely natural. And yet, no one's really figured out how to talk about it properly. [To kids anyway.] And make sure no one gets the wrong idea abut things. Which is probably how people like Booger are lead into thinking you're supposed to go at it in the bully button.
(No, adults never did seem to want to explain it to kids. They felt it was 'inappropriate' even when it was something a kid was going through themselves. Getting confused by, scared of. Kids like Eddie who felt anxious more often than not because of it all. Most of what he knew about sex had to do with all the colorful ways it would infect you and ruin your soul and blahblahblah.)
I always thought that was kinda dumb. When I put my finger in my belly button it doesn't go anywhere.
(Which ...okay might have been TMI considering the context, but Eddie's trying to make a light joke here at his own expense.)
I also kinda always wondered why if it was the belly button, why only girls could make babies and not boys but boys have belly buttons too. It didn't add up.
Isn't it just? Makes you feel like you want to take a long shower afterwards. Get all that responsibility off.
[Jokes are good! And if she knew he was laughing, she'd be pretty pleased with herself.]
Well, some of them are weird. Don't ever ask Tony anything about science or he never shuts up. So I guess I have to embrace my fate as a "somewhat irresponsible adult" that gets asked all the down and dirty questions.

Date: 2017-12-22 05:51 am (UTC)Sound logic. Poor Booger just didn't have a mind for anatomy. Some people just lack those sorts of skills. A real tragedy.

That was a really bad unintentional pun

Date: 2017-12-23 02:24 am (UTC)You're undermining my status as a RESPONSIBLE ADULT! Do you know how hard it is to be responsible? I've been working so hard, Eddie!
[She's mostly teasing. Or if she's insulting anyone, its herself.]

I mean if I'm coming to you about this I'd say you're doing a good job. Asking some of the other adults here about this stuff freaks me out
